For a week now I have run both scan tools thru the paces. I kinda like the Scan pad better . Here is why no cable vci to trip on. And the most important of all its not a locked down tablet has google play store and more. You listening support? Hello we would like an unlocked tablet.

A little history I started in this field in 1989 a graduate of lincoln tech. Ever since then
been working as an automotive tech. I have my L1 and master certs. So 26 years of
using various scan tools including dealearship tools. The scan pad from launch has its
quirks just like the autel does. I find for the most part its quick easy to use etc. I do like
my mini also however I feel improvements are needed.I mentioned them above Autel.
Those of you whom think Launch is a joke I tested their x431 gds vs a maxidas. The
gds lost. However their new scan tools have came along way. And I have ran side by
side tests on every car in the shop.

I have been trying to make up my mind on the maxisys mini, maxisys 908, launch scanpad 071 and launch scanpad 101. I have not used any of them so I would be real interested in hearing more from you about what each can and can not do.

So far I have ran test on numerous cars. I like the graphing better on my Autel Maxisys. As far running bi directional test they both do that well. I'm impressed with the Launch 071 and my boss has a Ds 708 he may trade in. One thing I don't like is the launch only views 4 pids a time. But they are all there swipe left/ right consider that a plus or minus. So stay tuned if he buys it I can give a better review. Also apples to oranges both have the latest software and neither one are a demo.

The difference between 905 and 908 Pro, is the follow:
    - 905
    Tablet is smaller, 7''
Is not box Passtrough J2534 (and because of this U can't do Programming and coding in BMW series F)
Don't bring old cables and adapters for non OBD cars.

Both are a great tool. If U don't going to do coding and programming in BMW series F (most of the BMW from 2011), I would choose 905.

    I hope I've help U.

If  U need more information, please inform.

     BillQ1971 and Pedro,

Thanks for the info. Will the scope module work with the MS905. I don't mind the smaller screen and I will not do any programming.

I don't like the 4 pid only deal you said the scanpad does so thanks for that info.

One more question if I was to buy a maxisys do I have to register it before I can use it or would I be able to wait about 10 months then register and start my free 1 year updates.

You should be able to wait' however you'll be missing years of updates.

What do you mean missing years of updates, should only be a few months of missing updates but then when I register and update for the first time that should bring it up to the current.

I guess my point is as long as it does what I need it to out of the box with what is on it then if I wait a few months to start the 1 year free updates then I will get the almost 2 years before the updates expire.

Unless when it is shipped it has nothing on it and I have to do the first update to have any manufacturer specific data at all.
